I have commented in previous post about the need to maximise your Facebook page by creating a welcome page here are some further observations related to the “Like” and ”Talking about this” and Share, Post, Comment on the wall of a page and the growth of your business.
I have visited pages that have high numbers of people, who “like this”, and have high numbers that are “talking about this” and these are great pages they have growing business people talking about them and increased market reach.
What is striking is the difference between these pages and those that have high numbers of people some very high that” Like this” and very low “talking about this” numbers. Simply by their own action these pages are limiting their own growth potential.
The observed difference is that in most cases the high “like this”, high” talking about this” pages do the following
- Return “Likes” both as person and as business /fan page.
- Actively Share links with their friend and their pages.
- Allow wall comment posting.
- Do not remove or hide supportive wall comments.
- Have a welcome /landing page with a reveal/gateway page to advertise on.
- Do not use the wall as their landing page.
- Do not use their wall as their product list page.
- Opt-in form to send newsletters.
- Like and Comment on shared pages or other activity.
These Business/Fan pages are Go Givers and focus on giving more. The page owners understand that it cost little or nothing to give a like and share a page. And in return it increases their reach and the viral nature of their business page GROWTH and advertising reach is evident in the numbers.
By contrast High “like this”, LOW “talking about this” pages do the following
- Do not return “Likes” both as person and as business page or like few pages.
- Do not allow wall comment posting.
- Remove or hide supportive wall comments.
- Do not actively Share links with their friend.
- Have no welcome landing page with a reveal/gateway page to advertise on.
- Do use the wall or info as their landing page.
- Do use their wall as their product list page.
- Do not have an Opt-in form to send newsletters or have no newsletter.
- Like and Comment on shared pages or other activity.
- Unlike pages after receiving likes and keep the like from that page owner.
In time these pages can be identified very easily, the numbers and the Info page show these pages clearly for what values they hold. It is sad because some of these pages are great the products are great, they have all the attributes to go viral.
It is to be remembered that the Facebook Fan/Business page is all about connection and reciprocation, the sharing of your page with as many people as you can. It comes down to the page owner, they must ask the question of themselves, Do I want a mediocre page or a viral page, if the latter, Become a Go Giver.
